Sanitary napkins are an essential element of a woman’s grocery list. In order to hold the red tide away from everyone else, ladies wear sanitary pads. This seems common and normal but what women don’t understand is that there are side effects. Bad side effects. It may not look like it but sanitary napkins are quiet threats to women’s over all health. Silent killers if women remain ignorant.

Here are some side effects of the napkins, either as a whole or with the ingredients used to make them:



Gel pads

All market pads have gel pads in them. This “cellulose” can be the cause of cervical cancer. You must remember that cervical cancer is the second-leading cause of death due to cancer for women.

Chemicals

We understand that our sanitary pads include chemicals. But what we don’t know is that these chemicals make a lot of complications and diseases in our private region. An example of these chemicals is Dioxin, which can cause irregular tissue growth.



Deodorants

The deodorants present in sanitary napkins can cause infertility and other birth complications that affect children. This ingredient enters the bloodstream and causes a lot of things to happen such as infections and abnormalities.


Cotton pads

Cotton, as we know, is normally harvested. But during the process of growing them, herbicide and pesticides are used.

Impermeable layer

To contain wetness, this layer is made of synthetic material. By also not allowing anything to permeate it, the passage of air becomes unstable. Heat and moisture that is trapped in your private area is a suitable environment for different types of bacteria.

Tampon

The chemicals or materials that finish the tampon can lead to organ damage. These are called Phthalates.

Lump

We must change our sanitary napkins and tampons every four hours. If not, it can lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome and even death. When we wear the pads for a long time, it can cause lumps in the private area leading to further infection or irritation.



Environmental concerns

Because of the huge numbers used every day, our sanitary napkin waste is becoming an environmental problem. A woman uses 16, 800 pads in a lifetime, multiply that with the number of women in the world who can afford it, it is a big contributor to solid wastage.
